A new face leading Tourism and Culture in Seychelles

On November 6, 2025, Amanda Bernstein was officially appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Culture of Seychelles. She is the 15th person to hold this position — and only the second woman in the country’s history to do so.

Born and raised in Baie Lazare, Amanda brings an outstanding portfolio in communications, diplomacy, international development, and finance. She holds a degree in Political Science and Journalism from Kingston University (UK), and a Master’s in Diplomacy and International Studies from SOAS – University of London.

🌍 A career built on diplomacy and international cooperation

Amanda started her professional journey in the UK, working with the International HIV and AIDS Alliance and the Commonwealth HIV and AIDS Action Group.

She later served as Press Attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Seychelles and spent three years at the Seychelles Embassy in Addis Ababa, where she played a key role in establishing the diplomatic mission and building relationships with the African Union.

💼 Experience in the private sector: finance and social impact

Beyond public service, Amanda has also held leadership roles in the private sector, including Barclays Bank (now ABSA). She worked on rebranding, community engagement, and sustainability initiatives — proving her ability to bridge business strategy with meaningful impact.

✨ An appointment filled with high hopes

In her official statement, Amanda said:

I am ready to work closely with all stakeholders. My commitment is to share the knowledge I have acquired over the years to contribute meaningfully to the sector’s development.”

Her nomination comes at a critical time for Seychelles — a moment that calls for stronger destination branding, sustainability, and innovation across the tourism sector.

AMANDA BERNSTEIN

A deeply personal bond

I’ve known Amanda since I was a teenager.

In 2006, when I made the life-changing decision to move to London and start fresh, she welcomed me into her home with open arms. That generous act, filled with warmth and sincerity, is something I’ll never forget.

Over the years, our lives evolved — Amanda building a distinguished career in diplomacy and government, while I became a travel designer and Seychelles expert, working to promote this beautiful homeland with heart and authenticity.

And today, somehow, our paths have become even more connected.

Why her role matters — for the future of Seychelles tourism

Amanda’s arrival brings new energy, and a shared hope for many of us who believe in the value of meaningful travel. With her, we can expect:

  • Greater support for Creole culture in all its expressions (👉 Read more: What is the Festival Kreol in Seychelles?)
  • Stronger focus on sustainability and local businesses
  • Improved communication strategies for global and local audiences
  • More listening and cooperation with tourism professionals

Amanda is someone who listens. She understands. And she takes action — qualities we need more than ever.

A Rare and Authentic Bond

When I’m with Amanda, I feel like I’m with family. There’s a warmth, a deep sincerity, where no masks are needed. Feeling truly at ease — loved, seen, and welcomed — is the greatest gift. Especially for someone like me, who has always searched for authenticity in a world that too often stops at the surface of social media.

There is nothing more powerful than feeling genuinely seen and welcomed.

From Friendship to History

Some of you may remember the article where I shared a photo with the First Lady of Seychelles.

Well, today I’m sharing one with the new Minister of Tourism.

And even though I usually prefer to keep my private life off social media, today I’m making an exception — because this moment is too meaningful not to share.

It tells a story for over 20 years of loyalty, trust, and heartfelt friendship. And yes… this time, I couldn’t resist.

Wishing Amanda all the best

This new role will be demanding, and I am certain that your dedication, your vision, and your love for Seychelles will guide you in the right direction.
As a young woman, mother, and wife, you are now also the leader of an entire sector that is vital for your country.
And I, in my own small way, will continue to do my part to share with the world the deep value of this destination.

I just had to dedicate an entire article to you 😍
